| LOCATION Nosara, Costa Rica is home base for the winter trips. The surf program is based in a luxurious 3-bedroom house minutes away from Playa Guiones, a beautiful 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) long, white sand beach, located in the center of the Nicoya peninsulas Gold Coast. It is a very organized beach break with rights and lefts. The beach is great for beginners with long rolling waves, but can still be challenging for more advanced surfers with occasional fast hollow sections. ACCOMMODATIONS We have a main house that serves as base camp. Campers share rooms at this location. The house is conveniently located near the beach and restaurants. For surfers wanting their own room they can pay extra and stay at the Harbor Reef Lodge, which is across the street and about a minute walk up the road from the main house. All Harbor Reef Lodge rooms are furnished with air-conditioning, a wet bar with refrigerator, plenty of closet space, a large bathroom and a private porch or balcony. All accommodations run from Saturday night through Friday night. TRANSPORTATION There are a couple of options available getting to Nosara: A. Arrive in San Jose, Costa Rica in the morning on the starting Saturday of each session. Then take a 45-minute shuttle flight from San Jose, Costa Rica to Nosara. There are 2 domestic airlines, Sansa and Nature Air, that service between San Jose and Nosara. Round trip fares are around $170 (USD). For Sansa Airline reservations: www.flysansa.com. If your flight arrives late in the day you may need to fly in Friday evening and spend a night in San Jose and catch a flight out the next morning. National flights can fill up quickly, to reserve one, please reserve far in advance. Sometimes it is difficult to take large amounts of luggage or surfboards on the smaller, national flights. They never accept surfboards over 7' in length. Once you arrive at Nosara airport, we will pick you up and drop you off. Just be sure to give us your flight itinerary. The main house is a 10 minute drive away. Flight schedules to and from San Jose and Nosara: SANSA departs Aeropuerto Juan Santamaria international airport High Season: November to April SJ-Nosara : departing 11:31 (arriving 12:25) Nosara-SJ : departing 12:35 arriving 13:26 One-way fare $83, includes fuel surcharge/airport tax NATURE AIR departs Pavas airport (Aeropuerto Tobias Bolanos - approximately 20 minutes from the international airport) Pavas-Nosara : departing 10:00 (arriving 10:45) Nosara-Pavas : departing 14:50 (arriving 15:35) Fare is $88 one way, includes fuel surcharge * Surfers are responsible for their own airfares, transportation, and accomodations outside of camp. B. Arrive in Liberia, Costa Rica and hire a van to drive you about 2-1/2 hours to Nosara. Price for a van with a driver is $125 (USD), which needs to be paid in cash to the driver upon arrival.
