The Surf School operates year round in Santa Cruz at some of the best surf spots along the entire West Coast. The coastline is part of the Monterey Bay marine sanctuary, which is an area of conservation and beauty, stretching from Santa Cruz, south to Big Sur. Here is a breakdown of the costs/packages and what's included:
GROUP LESSONS are available at $80 per person (two-hour class). Any subsequent group lesson is $60 per person. No more than four students per instructor SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS with a STAFF INSTRUCTOR are available (2-3 students per instructor) are $100 per student (two-hour class) PRIVATE LESSONS with a STAFF INSTRUCTOR are available at $80 per hour PRIVATE LESSONS with RICHARD is $130 per hour Surfboards and wetsuits are provided during the lesson. Soft boards (Softops) from Surftech ranging from 7' to 10' are used for beginners. As surfers progress they can graduate to fiberglass longboards, fun shapes, and short boards. Wetsuits are provided by Billabong, a surfing company that puts out the warmest, most flexible suits in the world. |

RESERVATIONS Lessons are taught year round and are scheduled by reservation only. We schedule around the ocean tide and swell conditions. If the tide is low enough we teach the lessons at Cowell Beach on the west side of Santa Cruz. If the swell is small and the tide is not low enough for Cowell's to be surfable, we move the lessons over to the Pleasure Point area on the east side of Santa Cruz. When you schedule a lesson we will give specific directions to where the conditions will be best for the day of your lesson and to meet your instructor. To make a reservation, please call our office ahead of time at (831) 423-0928 between the hours of 7:00 am - 7:00 pm PST. Or send us an e-mail stating the day(s) you're looking at. You can prepay with VISA or MasterCard over the phone. Otherwise, tuition is payable at the time of the lesson. We require that you download the RELEASE FORM below, print and fill it out, and turn it in with you at the time of the lesson. Register early, because classes can fill up fast -- especially on weekends, and during the summer. Students will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis.
